Brian Barber is an illustrator living in
Duluth, Minnesota at the tip of Lake Superior. When he's
not drawing, he's probably hanging out with his wife and
2 kids, skipping rocks, kayaking, biking, coaching little
league, or maintaining a 100-year-old home. After the kids
are in bed, he plays the drums and designs the CDs and gigposters
for Duluth's swankiest and most tongue-in-cheek lounge band.
In his 20-plus years in the business, Brian
has illustrated many magazine and newspaper articles, children's
books, advertising campaigns and more. Lately, Brian has
turned his love of drawing, cartoons, music and TV culture
into an expanding body of animated work that has been used
in commercials, short films and the internet.
Brian has also worked as an agency Art Director
and Creative Director, and as a magazine Art Director, so
he understands the pressures and realities on both sides
of the artist/client relationship as well as the technical
aspects of print production and web design.
Among the books Brian has published are 2
children's books, "My Favorite Sounds from A to Z"
and My Favorite Places from A to Z". Brian also did
the illustrations for a series of music instruction books
for kids, The American Fiddle Method. The American Fiddle
Method series has become the most popular technique for
teaching fiddle and violin to kids, and has been expanded
to include several other instruments.
